What's the orientation for a button type 2n3565?  Can't find data sheet.

They're an EBC pinout, with the hard-to-see flat side of the button corresponding to the emitter. Seriously, when I had them the wrong way on my Wolfshirt, I had to shine a small flashlight on them to be able to see which was the flat side!  Anyway, I hope this helps.
