Here is a Phase 90 I recently made for my dad using a Tonepad Pez 90 PCB.. He plays in a band called Sixfinger (named after a toy from the 50's/60's), so I used their band logo and called it the Sixphaser. I matched all the fet's in this thing and it sounds great. IMO it is much better than the current production Phase 90. It is much smoother and slightly more subtle, which I like (I'm probably more of a Phase 45 guy myself).

Nicely done! The Phase 90 is such a reliably good sounding phaser. I do prefer the 45 personally, but you really can't go wrong with the 90.

I used 2n5952's (JFET's), which are standard for the phase 90. I had to breadboard a jfet matcher to make sure that Vgs was similar for all for transistors. Did you match yours? If you are not able to do this you should consider purchasing a bunch of 2n5952's and putting in sockets so you can switch them out til it works. Here is a link that might help...

Good luck and let me know if this helps.

Lovely stuff.

That etch (I think it is an etch right?) is beautiful; very classy looking.

I too have the web page; I put in some MPF102's in mine, but honest they are a poor match, test them on a DM on the hfe mode but I just got 7 trans, don't remember the exact vals but they are something like: 70, 80, 90, 120, 125, 130, 180 (put in the last four), but then I got desperate and put them in at random and same thing...!!! I don't know to move in with some 2N5485 like in the example web page or stick with the MPF`s and get more... BTW putting the zener down o 4.7 doesn't sound as good as with the 5.1, Ill get a 5.6 to see if that`s the problem... and the trim pot only sounds good all the way down.

Hopefully a 5.6 will help fix the issue. I don;t know a whole lot about transistors, but mine sounds great with the 5.1 Zener and four 5952's with Vgs around 1.80, which was lower than I was actually hoping for when I went to match them. If the Zener doesn't help I would consider buying a bunch of 5952's and going with the highest mathed set. Good luck mang!

I forgot to say, I cant get the 5952 in Mexico  :-X
Ill go with the 5.6 zener, I think it`s that

Cool! Hopefully it works out then. If not hit me up and maybe I can send you a matched set of 5952's...

I too built one of these on vero using sabro's design and couldn't find a match in the (25) 2n25952 I had so I randomly grabbed some 2n5457s and it worked.  Swooshing goodness.

Also make sure your voltage readings rise and fall on IC2 (because that was my first problem)
