Hi guys (and gals?), I've just ordered 4 pcbs... Fatpants, Cupcake, Glitterrattii, and Quasar. I've had experience building and modding Epiphone Valve Junior amps and other paint-by-numbers effects pedals, so my soldering is getting better all the time (still a long way to go though). I'm confident I'll be able to handle these builds (with a little help from you guys), but I'm having a little difficulty getting a parts list together. I'd prefer to order everything from Smallbear but it seems, they may be missing a few items... In the case of the Fatpants build, it's the IC and Electrolytic caps rated for 25v and over... Anyway, here's the shopping cart I've come up with, just wondering if I could get some of you more experienced builders to check it fr me (and other newbies searching this forum):

I assume that the Silver Mica cap would be an acceptable alternative for the ceramic disc type? Anyway, I hope I'm close with this list... Now I just need to find the electro caps rated for over 25v (I've included the 16v caps listed on Smallbear - but I wont purchase untill I get confirmation from you guys), and where to find the TC1044 IC.... Hmmm, hope this helps others in the same confused state as me! ha ha Thanks so much in advance guys... Soon I'll make purchase lists for the other effects too. Cheers!

Looks good. C7 is the only one where 25v matters. That said, it's possible that a 16v will work, but you do run the risk of failure. Shoot, I can send you one if you have trouble getting them (although Radio Shack or Frys usually has some good caps).

The 220pF is for high frequency filtering at the FX input. There isn't much benefit to using silver mica over ceramic. Actually, even 100pF there would be fine.

You can use the MAX1044 Steve has at SB. It's functionally equivalent, though a little more expensive.

When using a super bright led, I have learned I prefer to jack the 4.7k resistor (r5) up to about 10k or it's way too bright for me.  Some people like it bright though, but I thought I'd mention it.

Preferences appreciated!

Seconded. 10k metal film is my preference too.

Thanks guys, at least I know I'm on the right track now. Cheers!  ;D

BTW, is the 1590B enclosure what Smallbear lists as the BB size? What size do you guys normally use???

jkokura

I'm not sure, but I think you can get both the BB and the B from Smallbear. I prefer the 125B for single size pedals, the BB is good for larger single pedals or even dual function pedals sometimes.
