Bean, what's the deal with R5 in the LaVache?

Is it there to prevent popping when the boost is disengaged?

R5 should actually prevent the popping. The high value blocks current from discharging from the cap when the boost is off, but not completely, so when the boost switch is engaged and the resistor is shorted it doesn't pop. If you are using an SDPT for the switch, try tying the un-used lug to the middle one. If you already have done that, or it doesn't do the trick, try lowering R5 to 1M or 2M2. Let me know how it works out.

I haven't built it. I was just looking at the schematic and wondering if R5 was for pop prevention.

Thanks for the info!
