Modded Juan's boogie to the same spec today, and while we were at it socketed the transistors.

After a little experimentation we ended up with Q1,Q2 as J201, and 2N5457 for the others. The J201s biased at around 5.6V, using the ROG method.  Sounds much thicker, with more of that low end recto thump.

Needless to say, mine's been modded too.

So now its higher gain, more low end, and still incredibly low noise.
