I want to make the Runt project into a 1590LB, the 2x2x1 tap tempo boxes, to use next to a boost in a same size box. They fit really nicely and compact on the board, the jacks don't hog any space.

Can you fit 3 16mm pots all next to each other within a width of 2"? How do I know how wide the base (diameter) of the pot is?

They are called 16mm for a reason ;)  Although they are actually 16.9mm wide (diameter) , just google the datasheet

I don't think you can, and moreover, I don't know why you'd need to. What do you plan to do?

What if you built the box upside down?  Like with the screws on top.  Wouldn't that give you a bit more width to work with?

1,9 are 50mm for a 1590lb

16mmx3=48mm

So i would say not. At least not aligned but if the centered pot is a few mm below the two others , i would say yes.
Tight fit anycase.

I want to make the Runt project here laid out like the original RAT: Three mini knobs on top with the switch bottom center.
