Thanks for the info!  All the 70's LP's and SG's I have had the pleasure of playing have had that volute, I didn't realize the DC had a much different neck profile.  I used to play traditional ska, rocksteady, and reggae, that DC would be perfect for that stuff besides the obvious ablity to rock.  Thanks for posting it!

Yes!  P90's sound good for reggae - judging by Bob Marley's LP Special.

Wow, a Rick Kelly...he sells these through Carmine St. Guitars, right? Robert Quine (Lou Reed, Richard Hell/Voidoids, one of my favorites) specifically mentions the Rick Kelly Telecasters in one of his last interviews before he died.

Hey Bret, just saw your post, sorry. Yeah, Rick Kelly has a shop in the West Village, Carmine Street Guitars. I live in NYC, so its easy to stop by. A beautiful guitar built from pine taken from a building on the Bowery dated from the mid 1800s. "The bones of New York" as Rick says.

The Don Quixotecaster:


Complete with Sancho Panza switch. It doesn't do anything on its own, and most of the time has no effect, but sometimes it makes things a little fatter.

Possibly a little over-complicated in the end. The three pup selectors were fine. The vol and tone were push pulls and depending on which was doing what it gave you either: single coil rails, P90s or humbuckers parallel or serial. Great pickups those P-rails. Very versatile.

The tele has a Dimarzio Area Hot T in the bridge, and a Dimarzio 36th Anniv. PAF in the neck. Korina body, maple neck. Sounds amazing! Made by a New Zealand luthier, http://www.ashcustomworks.com/

No problem! I lived in NYC '95-'00 and wish I had known about his shop.

At the time, there was a music venue/art space in this cavernous old chamber in one of the pillars of the Brooklyn Bridge. I think it was called the Anchorage. I don't know if it's still used in that way, but when I hear "bones of New York" it brings it to mind! What a cool concept for a guitar.
