Boneyard at +/-12V vs TC1044S spec

I would like to run my Boneyard at +/-12V

Datasheet shows that the rated operational voltage is  1.5 - 12 volts and absolute MAX voltage is just 13V.  That seems dangerously close to the rated operational voltage when running at +/-12V.

Has anyone had any trouble blowing up these TC1044s by using standard unregulated 12V wall warts which start off around 14V and drop down under load ?

I didn't have a problem with mine when I ran +12v into it. I would go for it (especially since the chip is only a buck).  If the  TC1044 dies (and I doubt that it will) you can alway replace it with the LT1054 (if you disconnect pin one).

The TC will handle the 12v, no problem. Just use a well regulated supply.

Even the MAX1044 handles 12v, according to frequencycentral. He uses them all the time in his tube pedal designs.

Max1044 is basic running with 9v????I want to build vineyard and I want to use it with 9v adapter
