Does this switch exist?

Hi gang

I'll try my best to explain...

I want to make a pedal with a mini slide switch similar to this...

but as I can't drill rectangular holes, I need one with a 'skirt' like this...

My thinking being that the skirt will cover up my rough chain drilling.

Does anyone know where I might find something like this? I'm specifically looking for an on-on SPDT.

Thanks as always.

I just bought some from tayda for the very same reason.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to drill those square holes too (I'm thinking two holes and a Dremel might do the trick)

Edit: sorry... I see now you were looking for spdt and on/on

If you have access to a 3D printer I'm sure you could make some kind of skirt to cover it.

I would suggest drilling four small holes in the corners, maybe 5/32" or 1/8" and doing a few in between each and using a small file or similar tool to cut out the rectangle. A dremel would probably work but only if the hole is large enough for the cutting wheel

Take your pick from Digikey.

There are also round ones.

Other than that, I agree a small file will get you there.

Often used those small ones you like, two holes at the ends of the cutouts with the largest bit you have that's still smaller then the cutout and not so big it creates much of an overlap in the holes as that can create a drilling issue. Small file to true, square things, clean it up and you're done in a couple minutes.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'd really like the switch to be a slide type (like in my first photo) but it looks as though the only ones with a skirt are rocker switches.

Dave, your file work looks great but I really don't trust myself to get it anywhere near as neat and square as you have managed.

Thanks! Like anything new, you just have to go slow, check your progress often and be patient. Both the aluminum and the die cast are pretty soft and easy to work so even at a patient pace it doesn't take long to do the job.

Sorry I might have slightly misunderstood your first post. Skirted slide switches actually seem to be a rarity, this is what I could find:
