How do I run two phasers parallel in one pedal

I'd like to split the input signal from the guitar with this http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2014/08/amz-2-channel-splitter.html?m=1

How do I put them back together? I've seen mixer layouts, but what if I just want to combine the signals without mixing? Is there an easy way to do this? I don't want pots for the mixer I've seen.

Every phaser already has a splitter and a mixer, just like every chorus, flanger and delay  :). They are all relying on splitting the signal, processing one copy, and mixing it back with the other, unprocessed, copy. So, you can learn a lot from the schematics that are out there for all kinds of pedals. Any specific phaser circuit that you are thinking of?

The smoothie that madbean sells I'll have a look at the schematic. Though I'm pretty horrible at reading them.

You could use a splitter/mixer project from TH Customs as inspiration: http://diy.thcustom.com/download/re-verb-v4-0-de-bauanleitung/?wpdmdl=3230. It starts with a splitter: two parallel opamp buffers. However, the smoothie already has an input buffer (well, a booster, I guess). So, you could simply build two smoothies and tie their inputs together (or save yourself a few parts by using one input cap and one series resistor at the input).

The smoothie itself splits the signal after its input buffer, and mixes them back with two simple 10k resistors (R15 and R16). My guess is that you could do the same to combine the signal from two smoothies: add 10k series resistors at the output and tie them together. The is in line with the schematic from TH, with the blend pot replaced by fixed resistors.

This is where I would start, just to see if you like the sound of two parallel phasers. I have no idea what to expect, so please post some sound samples  ;D. If you don't like it, you can always try placing the two circuits in series. If you like the sound, you can always add more luxurious features for the mixing section, such as extra opamp buffers before mixing as in the TH example, or an inverting opamp mixer as for example used in MB's Moodring. That latter one seems like a nice option: nicely buffered output, and a simple option to make sure you can set it to unity gain.

Pedal building is like the opposite of sex.  All the fun stuff happens before you get in the box.

Here is what you need, the duo phase.

Well, not entirely: the duophase is basically just two phasers. The only extra is the ability to use one LFO for both (in same or reverse sweep). You can run the two phasers separately or in series, but to run them in parallel, you still need to do a little bit more. Not sure if parallel phasing sounds nice, though ... have you ever tried that?

I was thinking it had a parallel switch, I have not done that, no. Check out the flying pan on the BYOC website. It's another phaser bit I don't remember if it it will do parallel. I've built literally every phaser known so far.

The MXR Phase 99 does two phasers in parallel, but only with stereo outputs (does not mix them together to mono). But I think it's way more fun to cobble something together from simpler building blocks, and then bend it to your will.

About halfway down in this thread, DutchMF posted a switch diagram pdf.

It worked for me.
It switches the two circuits between series and parallel.

I did the parallel phaser thing with two mutron phasers in this box. Both phaser can be on or just one and the splitter / mixer allows for blending clean and phased signal. One attraction of this is for me as well that I can blend with expression pedal between the two phasers or seamlessly from clean to phaser sound.

Wow!  :o That's pretty spectacular! And, blending two phasers in parallel, does it give a useful sound? Very different from just 1 phaser?

Jay

You guys are great. Looks like I have some inspiration now. I'll keep working through it and see what I come up with.

Man, if you create a PCB, I'm all over it.

I personally find it fun and useful and I also like to use just one phaser on and other off, so basically clean with a bit of phaser mixed in and then I can step on the footswitch of second phaser and have the full on sound of two phaser in different speeds for example. I like it, of course it's a matter of taste.
I designed the mixer boards myself based on this schematic and there is a board available from JMK pedals:
