electric mistress / deluxe question

is there a particular version regarded as the most desirable? Im not a Gilmore etc expert
Im assuming  18v  Sad chip, Ive made a few 9v versions however would like to see what a mn3007 at 15v  sounds like

version 2?
anyone have any suggestions?

There's only 4 core versions really,
18V model V1-4
9V V5
Deluxe V1-3
Deluxe V4-5

The 18V is the classic version that is probably most sought after by collectors, it's almost like an uber chorus, with a lot of bass cut for a bright sound but also very noisy with a big volume drop and has a habit of ticking so not exactly pedal board friendly by modern standards. The design is finicky and not easily adapted to the MN3007 so it's rarely built.
The 9V is a bit like the 18V except with a more flanger like sweep and slightly less high end, the noise and tick is mostly gone so it's more usable and is the most popular DIY & production design.
The V1-3 Deluxe is it's own thing, it has a much wider intense flanger sweep than the 9 or 18V and the overall tone is more neutral but still mistressy, some love it, some don't.
The V4-5 Deluxe is closest to the 9V but with a slightly wider sweep, so kinda halfway between the 9V and Deluxe, uses an R5106 which isn't exactly a ubiquitous BBD which probably explains why it's not often built but there is a project out there for it.

If you run the 9V model at 15V you get a wider sweep similar to the V1-3 Deluxe but with the 9V tone so it's a nice compromise.

And just to clarify

The "best" version is the one you like most.

That's really all that matters. 


(Granted finding nice clean audio samples of decent quality that would actually allow for accurate comparison is a bit of a saga in itself....)
