Following up from my earlier video comparison, I decided to add an XO Memory Man into the mix
So we have four pedals, the same loop, blind test. Two runs, with the order changed.
There will be PCB PIF for the first person to guess the right order - you only get one chance though!

The pedals in the test (from oldest to newest)

- 90s Reissue big box (EC2000) with 2x Panasonic MN3005 chips and true bypass via 3PDT
- 00s Reissue big box (EC2002revE) with 4x Panasonic MN3008 chips and relay true bypass
- Current issue XO (EC-D25revB) with 4x Panasonic MN3008 chips and true bypass via 3PDT
- Madbean Total Recall that I built with 2x Panasonic MN3005 chips, and true bypass by 3PDT

All four have had R2 changed to a 1Meg Trim pot (Analogman Input Impendance mod) and set according to my taste, in the context of the rest of the trim alignment
All four have had the clock capacitor changed, such that the clock frequency is as close to 7.5khz at max delay time as possible, for ~550ms

Wow. That's a tough one through the computer speakers, though honestly I can't say I'd have a much better chance in person. I had the mn3008 reissue a few times, but it was always the first thing to go when money got tight. Didn't have that good of luck with my first couple attempts at cloning, but was very satisfied with the latest total recall build. Anyway.....my guesses:

round 1
00
90
Total recall
xo

round 2
90
total recall
xo
00

Wow. That's a tough one...

Yeah probably unreasonably difficult :)
Maybe thats why noone is playing the game

You got the 90s one right in both rounds, if it helps ;) and another singleton  which I wont divulge yet or it would ruin the  (dubious) "fun"...

I can rest assured that I have an ear for vintage memory man goodness. I refuse to ever be tested again!

I don't have a clue, but I'm going to say C from round was one my favorite, A was my least. Otherwise I'll forgot when the results are in!

Since I got round one correct, do I get another shot?

You got it right, but it took two goes ;)
as per the original post "you only get one chance though!"

Was a really tough challenge in my opinion

lars

Oh, well. It was a great challenge. The 90's reissue was the easiest to guess, not because of how it sounded, but because of the switch click. The older big box EHX effects always had super nice Carling switches in them. Those switches have such a quiet, solid click.
Modern switches have gotten really loud, to an almost annoying level. Let me turn on my fuzz...CLI-CLICK!!!

I just wanted to add my short video of total recall build I did to Lacesensor's topic. This project is really special and must do. :)

Did you add back in the overload LED circuit? Seems the LED is flashing a bit?

brejna

Yup, I found few schematics of dmm and did overload circuit on veroboard.

Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing the vero layout / schem for the overload circuit?

Pedal building is like the opposite of sex.  All the fun stuff happens before you get in the box.
