So, a friend just gave me this guitar! I'm still stunned. I know it's just a studio, but to me it's also two other things: a Gibson and a Les Paul. Two things I've never owned. Anyway, I'm super thankful for it and I'm definitely going to build him something cool as a thank-you.

Some "just a Studio" LPs can be fantastic.  I mean, you'll miss the sound of the binding, but oh well.  :-)

I'm really liking it and I like that it's gloss. I'm seriously tempted to put a rally stripe on it.

And, it gets better! I pulled the strings off to clean it up and restring it and realized it's not solid red but trans, which let me see that this one has a maple cap! I was expecting it to be solid mahogany. I'm pretty excited about it.

Don't forget the "trapezoid tone" factor.

Traps remove too much fretboard material, which gives it a more hollow sound.
