I love looking at this, your pedals are ridiculously cool.

Do you gain stage the transistors for tone benders? Is there any kind of secret that you know of to make one sound superior to another?

Yeah, I do gain stage them.  Q1/Q2 are usually pretty close, but I tend to set it up so Q2 has an hfe that's 10 higher or so.  It jumps a bit to Q3 usually, but it varies.

Basically, I screen them into bins and then I listen on a board with sockets.  If they sound good, then I solder them into the board I'm building.
