smd practising boards

Got me one of those smd practise boards from evilbay and they are a good way to mess around and brush up the skillz on tiny stuff.

It's basically a non working circuit, the resistors are just in series so you can test if resistance adds up along the rows and check out where there's a bad joint.  I would recommend it to for this for a dollar before frying up a real circuit.
First thing I learnt is how easy it is to drop half of the components on the floor for vacuuming next time... and that the 0603 stuff is as tiny as fly shit.

Fun tip for SMD no-vacuum:

Get a margerine container. An empty one.

Get a sharp knife. A Stanley knife. An accurate knife. Cut the top half off.

Open your components into your shallow white dish. One at a time. Do not pour more components into it until you have soldered all the parts that were in it.

Getting a practice kit is exactly what I did to get started.  Getting used to the tiny size is "interesting".
If I drop a trun-hole resistor, chances are I'll find it.  One of these SMT parts, it's gone forever.
Your practice board is looking good. 

0201?  That's just masochistic.  I've done a bit of 0402 and didn't like it.  Much prefer 0603 and larger.

I'd recommending getting a flux pen or loading up a syringe with flux.  You could hit this joints with an iron and they'd look even better.

Actually, 01005 is small. They are actually about the size of fly shit. You could have a bag with 100 pieces and still wouldn't see half of them. let alone handle them manually.

Yeah, 01005 is tiny.  I've handsoldered 0201 and that was bad enough.

The circuit is the upcoming FFX Parallax trem/phaser.

Like these 0.15uF 1000V PIO Russian Coupling Caps. (That's two watt resistors beside 'em....)
