Noob alert - off board wiring fail

Boom - first build (DIY GUITAR PEDALS. Com.au Dirt & Boost) worked great when I tested it - but now it's in a box and just NOOOOISE haha.

I'm not asking for help here (cos I haven't gone and checked everything yet) but just wondering if there were some common off board wiring issues I should look out for.

And also - when there are multi wires going to a point (like the grounds) should I Solder each separately or can I twist them all together and solder as one? (I've done this - this might be my issue lol)

In any case I'm learning. Got a Mudbunny on the way to build next - fun.

I hate when that happens.  Go back through all your wiring with the diagram you used and make sure you didn't make a mistake on the 3pdt or in/out jacks.   My first thought is you have a grounding problem.  Are you getting a bypass signal or just nothing at all?  Twisting your ground wires into one is not a problem.  Just make sure you've got solder flowing through all the wires and to the lug (end point).

Bypass works great - nice and clean - sounds like that familiar grounding sound so I'll test all of that - i probably don't have the solder going all the way through - nice. Thanks!

Sounds like a job for for ye ole multimeter  . Set to check for continuity, and see if all points that need ground are indeed all connected to ground. And same for the 9V. As BrianS already said: twisting wires is ok as long as you can make a good connection. If it worked when testing it shouldn't be hard to find the problem. Good hunting!

Also make sure your in and out jacks are wired to the switch and board correctly. When working in the box you have to remember "in" is (usually) on the left and "out" on the right. The opposite of what we see when playing the thing. I know I've made this mistake before.

That said. My guess is a grounding issue. Make sure the board isn't grounding on the case. Also check the bypass LED wiring.

I had an issue similar to this with a true bypass looper. The switches and jacks were all grounded together but I hadn't connected the ground from the power to the same line. So definitely check to make sure your grounds are all the same one.
