Eh.

His cover of Common People is insanely good, though, which just goes to show that one shouldn't blanket dismiss an artist just because most of what they do is silly.

I've been obsessed with UK band Idles for the last couple of years. Heavy, weird and really catchy...

I absolutely love these guys!
I was devastated when they had to cancel their LATAM tour because of the covid pandemic
God knows when I'll be able to see them live (and I truly fear Joe will lose his voice in a few years)

I actually own a William Shatner album. Each track is half him doing spoken word renditions of play soliloquies, half pop covers. He loses his god damned mind on some of these cuts. (The transition from speech to song is at about 3:50, and yeah, give it a listen.)

I also picked up a used copy of Oingo Boingo's Dead Man's Party the other day.  My stupid brain keeps thinking it's Jack Skellington singing and that always makes me smile a little.

I'm having a surprisingly difficult time finding a copy of Time Steps online to post here, but I saw that someone has written a book about Wendy Carlos. Her stuff was quite innovative.

Ahh sorry you didn't get to see them. They've recently announced UK and Europe tours for next year and I'm sure they'll be over your way asap too.

It's worth the wait, I saw them five times last year and they just got better and better.

I'm with you about Joe's voice though, I just hope he's looking after it!

By the end of August it was deep into groundhog day territory, last week the weather  finally broke and one thing at least was different, a cloudy sky.

A.A. Williams arrived here on a Uncut comp cd, lots more on youtube. Cover of NIN.

I don't know what that was, but now I want to build one.

Very cool! Without realizing it had two windows of it open playing about 30 seconds apart, had no idea until the one i was watching ended and the music continued on... million dollar view to boot.

Back pre-internet there was a zine, maybe came out quarterly, called Experimental Musical Instruments that was full of bizarre, made up, hacked instruments that this would have been right at home in.
