Who's the resident European powder coater these days?

It's been a while since I checked. I'd like some 1590BB's in nice colors. It's hard to beat PPP's quality but shipping and taxes is killing. My net price for a shipment of 10 powder coated boxes is about $35 per box! Anyone in the Netherlands or Europe doing quality stuff for reasonable prices and shiping?

Look for a local place that coats rims, custom car parts, etc.

they'll do a great job and might even have some wicked colors in stock. Almost certainly cheaper than ppp shipping.

Just tagging along on this thread as I am also interested in such a place (especially in the Netherlands).

Seems http://www.powdercoatingcompany.eu/nl/ is a good place to start?

Another one: http://www.custompowdercoat.nl/

Apart from Musikding in Germany, which was already mentioned, Newtone in the Netherlands has powdercoated BB's at a reasonable price, and reasonable shipping costs. Plus they are fast and accurate. Never had problems with the quality of their boxes, but I am not sure how critical you are  ... See: http://www.newtone-online.nl/catalog/index.php?cPath=21.

Banzai (Germany) has a larger range of colours: https://www.banzaimusic.com/BB-Size/. They explicitly state that "Enclosures possibly may have flaws in the finish ..." but the few I ordered where close to perfect. My experience with Banzai has not been as good as with Newtone though, but YMMV.

I know of Newtone, I get most my parts there (fast and accurate indeed). But they have only the standard, quite boring, colors. I like fancier stuff like reptile green, denim or anodized version.

Ah, now I see why you did not mention Newtone or Musikding; yes, they only have boring colors  ;D. Banzai has more, but still perhaps not too exciting. Then your best bet is to find a firm that can do custom powdercoating for you, or use full-colour decalls on a bare box and get any color that your printer can provide ;).

Sent a message to custompowercoat.nl. They're quite near me.

Got a reply: €50 start up fee which nullifies any potential benefits compared to PPP shipping.
Any other suggestions?

If they're nearby, I'd just drop in with some boxes to show them and explain what they're for. Also mention there isn't a European source like ppp.

If they're cool, maybe they could lump them into another job and skip the fee. Maybe show up with beer or doughnuts. Or one of the coaters could do it at home or something.  Ask what you can do to make it easier to accommodate you. The setup fee is likely to avoid dealing with all the kids looking to get their bent and cracked rims done for cheap.

If not, there's probably other places that'll work with you but they probably don't have a website and it's all word of mouth. Maybe try asking the kids with the rims. ;)
