Choosing reverb project for experimental

Hey guys, it has been a while since I've posted anything, but it feels good to be finally back at work. So, currently I'm deciding which reverb project to build. I'm looking for really huge ambient and strange tones, to use either with guitar or a microbrute, to get some experimental/psychedelic sounds with a delay pedal and maybe a flanger (next project). So I'm checking out the Tenebrion, the chasm reverb and the Moodring reverb. Which one in your opinion would suit this best? Any other suggestions apart from the projects I'm checking out?

Best regards

I just built a moodring with the "medium" brick.  It's very nice.  The tone control really affects how the reverb "sits" related to the dry signal.  So does the pre-delay.  I can get pretty long reverb out of it and it can freak out (in a good way) at high dwell settings.  I don't have experience with the other two, but the moodring was worth the effort.

I built a Tenebrion with a long brick and added a freak-out switch. That thing can definitely get ambient and weird. The project is detailed here: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=23277.msg228165#msg228165 I later added a 25K pot in parallel to R11 to control the swell speed.

You could do something similar with the Mood Ring. There are also mods on this forum to allow you to change how the feedback loop is arranged (just delay, or delay and reverb).

diablochris's reverb looks fantastic.

I build a moodring with modulation and I really love it. If you're interested: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=23642.0

I haven't built or heard a DIY reverb that is big and experimental the same way my Empress Reverb is. It isn't even close.

If you want a crazy reverb, get a digital reverb with some presets.

I have built many reverb pedals over the years. I would say for large sounding with some "weirdness" like feedback loops and modulation my favorite would be:

Madbeans Moodring - Has a really cool oscillation setting that can get some cool droning on its own.
My build: http://music.codydeschenes.com/?p=2488

deadastronaut's Space Chasm - This oscillates nicely to infinite decay.

I do agree with playpunk that digital effects have WAY more options and can add layers apron layers of effect. But since you asked about DIY reverb pedals I decided to share the 2 above. I use my Strymon Big Sky for 99% of my reverb needs these days but its normal for me to have 2 reverb pedals on my board. One before dirt and one at the end of my chain.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi guys, thank you for the replies, but you re not making this easier, because not only I can't decide between the Moodring and chasm, now I have the Tesseract to add to the equation (which I find really interesting).

The most obvious answer is to build ALL OF THEM.
