LM324AN vs N vs NE3 etc

Hey guys,

I've been looking over the datasheet for the TI LM324 series and am struggling to figure out the differences between the various suffixes. 

My source (Digikey) has LM324AN as the least expensive, and I'm trying to figure out if I can go with that for instances where the suffix isn't specified.  (i.e. Current Lover)


EDIT:  Also trying to understand LM311P vs LM311N...   sigh.

The suffix attached to semiconductors often refers to variations in temperature thresholds, packaging types, or lead-free designs.

And.... since these suffixes vary with the manufacturer, the only true way to find out is to download the datasheet and look it up.

In pedal building, you can get away with any TYPE of packaging (plastic, ceramic, etc.) and use any temp rating however, make sure to pay special attention to the STYLE of packaging. Nothing hurts like ordering an op amp and you expect it to be a DIP package and you receive an SOIC package
