Shottky or Ge diodes?

Hello, I am trying to get the parts together to build a compressor sustainer I found over at FSB. It indicates a Ge diode or a Shottky. I am unsure what to get. I believe that it is part of a clipping block. Would a a 1N34A Ge diode work? I also see a lot of different Shottky's listed. If I went for one of these, which one?

There are several GE diodes you could use: 1n34a, 1n270 and 1n60 come to mind. I think the 1n34a has the lowest forward threshold. For Shottky's you could try a search on Mouser and see what part numbers you turn up. You might even be able to sort the list by forward voltage, but I'm not sure.
