So, I have a tone bender mk ii board from stomp town and like a goon I ended up ordering a transistor set from small bear for a mk I.  Will this work? Or am I going to better off ordering the correct set?

Thanks,

Andy

It might work--post up the gains/leakages when you get your set and I can take a look. You may be able to just swap Q2 and Q3 and have it work out alright.

Q1: 2SB77 - nothing listed for Hfe or leakage
Q2: not labeled - 84Hfe/105 leakage
Q3: not labeled - 174Hfe/145 leakage

These are the generic Mk 1 set from small bear.

Thanks,

Andy

You know, these might work okay for a MkII as is, just following Q1, 2 and 3 as identified by Small Bear. I'd recommend trying them out before thinking about ordering another set. Post up your voltages after you try this out, and let me know how you think it sounds. It should be pretty easy to get sorted. The MkII circuit seems to like some leakage. Also, between the two circuits the requirements for Q1 aren't hugely different, especially in terms of ballpark hfe.

Sweet!  I'll test them out and let you know how they sound.
