This is quite impressive. I used to dabble with the game, maybe enough to appreciate how totally nuts this is. It's incredible that AI can achieve this level of complexity. It's going to be interesting what is next, perhaps a successful algorithm to find huge primes.

It beat a human at Go?! Shit. I remember an XKCD comic about AI that was a good timeline about how AI has evolved that was pretty interesting (first link on google - https://xkcd.com/1002/)

I think we should now be looking to build an AI that can win at Calvinball  ;D

Agreed, that is probably the next logical step.

Xkcd is so good. We used to have this one posted in the math tutoring center at college.

The rules are decievingly simple but once you start playing you begin to see the scope of the game and see how profoundly complex it is.

There's an app called SmartGo that does a good job teaching you the basics. It's worth the two our the bucks if you're interested in the game.

There's a really, really good anime called "Hikaru no Go".

I read the manga. My brother got the first few for his reviewing job and gave them to me. I couldn't stop, I thought it was great. I didn't realize they made an anime, I'll have to track it down.
