Just read this:
http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/22329-visual-sound-changes-name-to-truetone-and-announces-jekyll-hyde-v3
So, by and by all their products will have the new name, also the Truetone 1 Spot power supply.

Weird. They have a well established name. Do their sales struggle? Is "Tone" better than "Sound"?

Edit: I see they discontinued all of the weird shaped single pedals and are focussing on the square shaped doubles.

Odd. Having a distinctive "brand" shape pedal enclosure helps with recognition -- it's easy to spot a Blood Drive on a board, but J Random Four Knob 1590B?

Indeed weird. Renaming a business is most of the time a bad idea I think...

Maybe they have a new manager? Wouldn't be the first time new management comes in and decides to fix that which ain't broken. Anyone remember the 'New Coke' disaster?

I also see with the V3 Jekyll & Hyde that they dropped their supposedly super awesome more reliable then conventional style 3PDT relay switches in favor of.... more conventional style 3PDT switches. I guess the new management doesn't like things that make them stand out from the rest. One the plus side though, top mounts!

Company president and founder, Bob Weil, explains why:

"The name of the company was derived from the first product I invented, Visual Volume; the volume pedal with a 10 LED scale to indicate volume level. That was the product that launched Visual Sound at the beginning of 1995. While Visual Volume was the cornerstone of the company back then, it became a secondary product over the past 20-years. Now, we are best known for our effects pedals, including Jekyll & Hyde, Route 66 and H2O. In addition, our 1 SPOT power supplies and accessories have become the industry standard. Our company motto has always been Real Tone for Real People, which underscores our approach to making reliable, high-quality products, at a fair price. With this in mind, we feel that our new name, Truetone, clearly states our vision in one word."

Pedal building is like the opposite of sex.  All the fun stuff happens before you get in the box.

i like Visual Sound much better, but honestly in 20 years no one will know the difference.
