Recent Macheen Build

It's my first "non-kit" build and basically went well with two exceptions. One is that I kept forgetting stuff, 3 separate orders to get everything I needed (because I got it from several different places). The other is that I broke one of the vintage Ge diodes, got another, not quite matching  and the limit seems to work ok.

It does display somewhat strange behavior: when I move the gain knob, the overall volume drops momentarily then comes back to normal. It also crackles when I move it (expected, I guess?). I used the external trim pot/volume for the second SHO circuit and I find it's not that useful less than 12 (the pedal gets too quiet overall). Does that sound like normal behavior? Overall the distortion is nasty and the pedal is quite loud (both expected, of course).
