This looks/sounds like a really nice flanger. I love the concept. Is it just me, or is the name ringing a bell?

Meh. An interesting approach, but they still should have included more control. The whole idea was to make this not a boring, same thing every time LFO, but they ended up making it boring because you have no control over depth, rate, feedback, phase, etc. It will sound exactly like that every time and you'll very quickly max out its versatility. Maybe a wah pedal type control would have been better, so you could actually simulate differing pressure. Plus, many people will be disappointed when the effect disappears on clean guitar. Tape flanging is very difficult to emulate, especially with new technology. Heres a video of real tape flanging:

Notice two things:  the effect is never super prominant, as in 80's 1024 stage flanging; and the sound never cancels out everything completely, as in most modern through zero subtractive flangers. Through zero doesnt mean it should produce zero sound at the crossover point. Sure, the effect seems more prominent, but mostly because you have a specific sound point of reference for when it crosses over, whereas in true tape flanging, sometimes the zero point is very subtle, depending on the complexity of the source material.

The Eventide fl201 is still the best solid state unit ever for emulating true tape flange.
