Is there a particular version of the lt 1054 that I should order? Would it work with other charge pumps? I just want to make sure I'm ordering the right part.

The current draw when the envelope is triggered can be significant, as is true of all envelope effects, really, but this one has a bunch of other devices. I would stick with the LT1054. Just get the through-hole version, I don't think you can get the wrong one.

The mouser part number is 595-LT1054CP.

Ok thanks. I didn't know if the letters after the 1054 matter.

The designations after the main number will usually have to do with the package of the part and the packaging for shipping. With TI parts, the "C" and the "I" usually have something to do with temperature ranges the IC is spec'd for and won't mean much for our typical uses.

There's usually a section in the data sheet that'll break down the codes. The TI parts in particular usually have a chart for packaging information at the end of the data sheet that'll detail what the designations mean. For the LT1054, as long as you stick with the PDIP parts you'd be OK.

Ok just wanted to make sure since with other charge pumps you have to get the switched version.

Yeah, that's one of the good things about the LT1054 -- it's harder to get the wrong one.
