Is the numbering order of IC2 on the schematic written for convenience? (1,5,6,2,7,8,3,4) It's not the order of the pins on the IC, correct?

Yeah, pin numbers 2-8 of the PT2399 on the Sparklehorn schematic are intentionally drawn out of order just to make the schematic easier to read.
