Scratchy Cables when messed with

I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or knows what it means when some of my patch cables give off a light scratching when I turn the plug a little (while it's in the jack of course)

It might be making poor contact with the jack. I would try some electrical contact cleaner. Just spray it in the plug's tip and stick it in and out of a few times. (inb4 'that's what she said')

It could also be the wire inside the cable having broken somewhere, but that would probably result in your signal cutting in and out rather than scratchiness.
