Build report is coming, I just wanted to tell you guys that you can absolutely move this towards the top of your to-build list because it is insanely good. I have some problems with oscillation currently, but the circuit is absolutely phenomenal sounding. What surprised me the most is it's ability to be chuga-chuga-chuged, or palm-muted for some crushing toanz.

The fuzz only side cleans beautifully with the guitars volume knob, and the octave up side has just enough octave for me, not too much, not too little, it's just perfect. Really a top build.

I cannot wait to resolve the problem I am having and pair it with the harbinger one in a 2-in-1 build with order switching.

That is all. Just a heads up that you shouldn't wait another day, build this!

Crazy nice sounding. Works GREAT with a wah. The non-octave sound is VERY nice as well.

What do you guys think?

It sounds massive and it has right amount of mids to my ears.. Did you use fender or gibson type of guitar and how does it responds to playing in lower parts of neck (in octave mod ofcourse)?

Cortexturizer

Hey brejna, I used a fender 72 deluxe roadworn tele with custom made pickups, these are the real deal wide range humbuckers, although they sound a lot fendery and have that sparkle to the sound.

It's the neck pickup, I didn't even turn the Tone control down as you do with octave fuzzes, no, it's wide open. Volume as well.

Have you heard the whole clip? I played some around the 12th fret, that's where the single notes occur in this sound clip. It octaves quite hard. I used a big input cap to get it to sound massive, but you can use a smaller cap that will get you to the Octavia territory, when used like that the sound becomes much more scramble-like and octaves even more. I will probably put this cap on a toggle switch and do 2 or 3 values.

I almost have it without oscillations when Gain and Volume maxed. There is a lot of gain on tap and I've experienced some crazy oscillating whereas Rob hasn't on his couple of builds. I am curious to see what kind of experience others will have.

All in all it's a crushing pedal, you should build it!

Woow that tele is really big sounding guitar, love it. I've head whole clip and there is nice octave up sounds at the end,  it also cleans really nicely.. Did you try to change output cap, it could effect sound also? BTW What transistors are you using?

Cortexturizer

I am using the transistors that Rob used to test this thing as it happens hehe, he sent me some. They are 2n3904s. BC549Cs in the first section.
I'll do a sample of the non-octave side later this evening. Sound pretty sweet as well, niiiiice cleanup possibilities also.

Great sounding. a nice face melting fuzz for sure. I may have to move mine up the list some. Look forward to seeing your finished product.

Does anyone else have trouble with Soundcloud working in the embedded links?

It's fun to hear someone else playing through this so I can hear what it's like beyond my sad guitar noodling.

A note to anyone that might have built this already or is considering building it anytime soon, there'll likely be an update to the build doc coming up that concerns mods that might help tame this a bit if you are experiencing some over-the-topishness.

What browser you using? They work fine in Chrome here. I know that they do not work in any mobile Safari browser like iPad & iPhones.

I'd expect it not to work in the mobile Safari because of the no Flash thing, but it should work in the OS X version of Safari (which is what I'm using). It's probably a bad interaction with Ghostery. I'll have to see if I can track down the issue.

Soundcloud links are very browser dependent. Latest safari shows them older ones don't

Sounds really cool!  Looking forward to seeing the build.

Soundcloud player works in IE (9,10,11) and Firefox (31, 33) here with JS and Flash enabled.

This sounds awesome! Are there boards still available or have I missed the boat?

Cortexturizer

Glad you guys love it.
I prefer it to any other octave fuzz I've played, okay the Octavia is different and really specific, but I feel that this one can do so much more.
And it's tight as a snake's ass, perfect for palm muting. (not something one usually does with an octave fuzz, but hey)
