Just got a DS-1 cheap and wanted to do some mods. The JHS synth drive makes some cool sounds. While I hate to bring up those infamous initials, I have to ask: Does anyone knows how their DS-1 is modded? All I can find is Keeley mods.
I build, and once in a while I might sell, pedals as "Vertigo Effects".

I think one of the wampler books has some synth mods for the ds1 in it

yes, there is something about that..

AntKnee

Thank you!
Looks like that is probably it.
If anyone has any further tips regarding the DS-1 mods in the wampler book, please do share.
Thanks again!

After comparing the youtube clips of what I assume are the wampler book mods with the JHS mods, it sounds like the JHS mods are a bit different, and more usable. I haven't actually started any mods yet, but if anyone could check the clips and offer suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

I've got a PDF of Wampler's mod book. Pm me your email and I can extract the pages and send them over to you later.

Thanks, I have the pdf. I was just wondering if they were the same as the JHS mods. I know the only comparison available is youtube clips. I doubt he is open about what he does to his mods.

I think JHS uses a transistor between the same 2 pads that Wampler does

The third leg of the transistor I assume would go to ground then?
Now to find a suitable transistor...

I believe I read somewhere it was a bs170 or something similar.

I tried the synth mods on a DS-1 from the wampler pdf's, and didn't find any useful tones. It was very muddy and didn't track well. The JHS mods are most likely different.

From what I heard on the youtube clips, I thought that was the case. The wampler mods just didnt sound usable. The link to FSB above has what looks like actual JHS mods, but I havent tried them yet.

If you like that, you'll love an UglyFace. It just does the nasty side of that.
