This could get interesting. List the songs that bands have covered over the years. 1 you Love, 1 you hate, and 1 guilty pleasure (good or bad). I'll start

This is one of my favorites. Between The Buried and Me: Colorblind (Originally by The Counting Crows)

This is one that I can't stand. Killswitch Engage: Holy Diver (Originally By Dio) *I Love KSE just hate this cover*

This is pure Guilty Pleasure. Incubus: Still Not A Player (originally by Big Pun) *Back when Incubus was still good*

One I Love - Little Wing by SRV.  He typically did a really good job with Hendrix stuff, but this is my favourite, because he's manages to capture the beautiful essence of the song without needing vocals.

Other Bands who do a solid job on covers regularly

Disturbed - routinely cover songs which are "typically" in their genre

Halestorm - an EP of covers every couple of years, spanning from Fleetwood Mac to Marilyn Manson

Chris Daughtry - despite the fact I can't stand his latest disc, he's got a real knack for covers

One I Hate - err, there are a lot of bad covers out there.  As a general statement, most "contractual obligation" cover albums (i.e. throw togethers to meet the one last record requirement to get out of a contract) are usually at least 50% excrement, especially when you get bands like Poison covering Mott the Hoople or Bowie.  There are some exceptions, especially for bands that stay within the wheelhouse (The Covering by Stryper was like 90% good, The Immigrant Song was terrible), but in general they are usually fails.

Guilty Pleasures - covers of tunes by strong females artists, like Heart or Pink.  Songs like "Try" by Pink have been covered in a number of formats really, really well, as well as "Alone" by Heart.

Not really a guilty pleasure but not something I listen to regularly.

I was going to go with Lisa Cuthbert - Fragile Dreams (Anathema Cover), but found her take on This Corrosion (Sisters of Mercy) instead which is even better. Love her voice and melancholic style.

Her cover of 'Look at my Horse' (Weebl and Bob) is quite spectacular considering the original ;)

I have so much hate for a lot of modern remakes of songs by people who lack the vocal personality to pull them off. I think I've successfully purged them from my mind though as I can't think of a single one off the top of my head.

Guilty pleasure... Harry's cover of Imagination (Belouis Some) ... Hmmmmmm...

Gnomepage - DIY effects library & stuff in the Stompage bit
"I excite very large doom for days" - playpunk

Love this album, still given a spin a few times a year. Bowie/Ronson covers of 60's garage. Skips and all...

Easily forget the bad but just can't shake Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm, shudder the thought of ever hearing it again, no desire to hear the original either.

Here's another 3
Love: Nine Inch Nails, Dead Souls (Originally by Joy Division). This is from one of my favorite movie sound tracks and I think **personally** It's better than the orginal.

Hate: Gym Class Heroes, Under The Bridge. Don't care for the original (RHCP) but these guys made it WAY worse.

Guilty Pleasure: New found Glory, Stay (I Missed You). I do love me some terrible pop punk!

GermanCdn

Yeah, New Found Glory seem to love the oddball covers, didn't they cover Everything I Do I Do It For You by Bryan Adams?
