Hi guys,
I was working on an order for a couple parts for a wah project, and i have a question about the 1n5817 diode. It is written on the weener doc, that the 1n5817 is a 1w zener type, but musikding sells some 1n5817 diodes, and they are labelled as Schottky. Are these any similar?

Best Regards

copachino

in fact 1n5817 are schottky barrier diode type, so this are the same, 1w, 100w, the are the same, it change only the heat dissipation on the element, but the real job they make are the same, and also change the size, but 1w are normal diodes

It's a typo in the document if it says it's a Zener. It's a Schottky.

Thanks for the replies, really appreciate your help!

Just a quick question! Do i need to use that specific model of trimpots for this build, the bourns that are written on the doc? Or can i use other brands of trimpots with the same values?

jimilee

Any brand will work. Just make sure it's adjustable from the top, or what I did is use an external pot of the same value so that's it's an adjustable q

I can't seem to find any on-on-on dpdt toggle switch for the wah to use instead of the rotary switch. Does anyone knows where i can find them?

Other than the link to small bear in the pdf, here is another place. Lawrence at blms. http://www.bitcheslovemyswitches.com/#!/~/product/category=5324038&id=36073610

Is this On-Z-On switch, the same as On-On-On? http://www.musikding.de/Toggleswitch-DP3T-ON-Z-ON
I'm asking this because the schematics seem the same as this one: http://www.bitcheslovemyswitches.com/#!/~/product/category=5324038&id=36073610
I know it's not a DPDT, but can it do the job?

jimilee

dont know, but this is at the bottom if it helps
You don't have to use a 1P12T rotary. You could use a 2P4T, or 4P3T

I'm asking this, because the schematics image of the on-z-on look very much like those of the on-on-on you sent me.

If the schematics are the same, then it is the same. I was looking at google for what the Z stands for, I got nothing. Not being familiar with that side of the pond, I'm really clueless.   It has 3 throws so it should work with no issues, seems like you'll have an extra position in there which could yield interesting toanz.

This is from the On-Z-On:

And This is from the On-On-On:

They look very much alike, that why i think the "Z" may stand for another "ON"
