Rollin' in my 'six-fo', with Timbo

Opticals have this feature (ie: Morley) because they have a spring loaded treadle.  When your foot comes off of it, the treadle goes all the way back and moves the optical light plate into a region where bypass is triggered.

I think something like pressure sensitive resistors could work nicely if they were embedded in the rubber (or under the rubber).  Something like these are usually less than $10:


A microcontroller could easily read the threshold value and trigger the true bypass relay, like on the 6-4.  A simple resistor divider trimmer or knob can adjust the sensitivity.

Wow, very interesting. This would be a fun project. I will have to read up on the pressure sensitive resistors.
