Online Sources for Guitar Speakers?

Hey Guys!

A buddy of mine asked me to help him find some 12" speakers for his 412 and I have never actually really shopped for them since my combos already had nice celestions in them. Was wondering if anyone has some preferred online resources or recommendations, especially for good / decent speaker brands at a reasonable price. My buddy is a weekend warrior type player that just jams with friends.. no regular gigging so his bugdet will be moderate.

For reference he mainly plays blues/rock and will be using a 30 to 50 watt head. I figure something in the 25-30watt range speaker wise.

If you are going for budget speakers - the eminence series are great. I have a cannabis Rex in my fender blues deluxe and love it. For a decent deal - avatar speakers called "hellatone" are great. They are celestions which are "seasoned" by a super secret process.

I run a cannabis rex in my old vintage Traynor YGM-3, as rully said its a wonderful speaker but very smooth, almost too smooth one might say but I love it.

Eminence has "Red Coat" British-style speakers and "Patriot" American voiced ones to lead you in the direction you want.

I would also recommend Warehouse Guitar Speakers (WGS) for a decent/affordable option. The Reaper is a Celestion G12H clone and very balanced. They make a 30 and 50 watt version.

On the expensive side, but I really like the Scumback J75 that I run my Tweed Deluxe through.

yes, Avatar Speakers ... between Celestions and Eminence, they have most tone bases covered ... great prices ... they make good cabs too.

+1 for WGS. I really like the 12" Green Beret (Greenback) @ 25 watts that I put in a closed back 112 cabinet.

I've also been happy with Weber's Signature Series (AlNiCo Sig 12  in a Vintage47/National Supreme) and Legacy Series (10F150T in a Princeton Reverb Reissue) speakers.  I think the Signature Series is their economy line, but it sounds nice to me. YMMV.

I can't vouch for it personally, but I've been told the Weber Legacy is equivalent to a Scumback at a lower price point.

yes weber was the original makers of the scumback.  until scumback basically stole a shipment of speakers from them.. the sigs are nice speakers as well,  my fave is the sig 12b.

i've used wgs before, a veteran 30 to be precise.  nice speaker.

I highly recommend most of the weber line.  Just be aware that you'll have to wait around a month to get them
