Hello everyone,

I'm new on the forum and I'm getting started on the DIY pedal world. As obvious the most part are guitar players here, I was wondering how many bass players there are.

I'm also looking for a kit pedal specific for bass, in another post someone suggested an overdrive (http://buildyourownclone.com/bassoverdrive.html), do you know any other pedal?

Or maybe I could buy a pedal for guitar and make some mod, a suggestion on this way would be appreciated aswell.

I mean, I can't wait to start with my first pedal, so please help me on this! :)

Cheers

First up, I'm not a bass player.  I just played bass in a cover band for 5 years or so.  I recently sold my bass and guitar amps and replaced them with a single powered speaker as I use cab emulation 90% of the time.  Anyway, I need a bass front end as a result, so this is what I'm working on:

I'm pipedreaming a bass multi-effect at the moment.  I've actually got the pcbs and veros done, I'm just waiting to get the cash together for the outboard hardware.  It started off as a 1590NJ sized project, but when I decided to add the fuzz it got upsized to DD.  It currently has:

Mictestors Really Cheap Compressor (vero, using values for bass):  http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8581&start=140#p166260
Madbean Sprout Fuzz (etched pcb, thanks Haberdasher)
Paul In The Labs NE-1 bass preamp vero layout:  http://www.paulinthelab.com/2013/02/yamaha-ne-1-bass-parametric-eq-preamp.html

There's something REALLY nice about the NE-1.  I tested it into the powered PA bin, and loved it.  Can't wait to get this boxed up.

Built the bass over drive from byoc, jmk has one as well. It he byoc chorus is mod able for bass, as well as any other pedal, it's usually just a matter if replacing the input and or out put caps. THIS IA A GENERAL STATEMENT AND DOESNT APPLY TO EVERY PEDAL ;-) but you'll find it works.

Hyde, this is why you would socket capacitors.

Got it, thanks! ;)

Anyone can advise me for some kit?

Any bass kit at byoc or GGG

If you're in the EU, you can also pickup kits from Musikding for cheap.

OK I've found two pedals on musikding, an overdrive (screamer) and a distorsion (muff violet ram), both for guitar. Here the link to the schematic and part list...

Which mod would you suggest me to adapt them to the bass?

Thanks

Can anyone help before I place the order?
thanks

I can't access either of those links

I've played bass in most of the bands i've been in... even if mainly a guitarist.

It all starts with a Comp... once you've nailed your need about that, you won't ever turn it off.

Envellope filters are badass on bass too, i HIGHLY suggest MadBean's Kraken (MuTron MicroV modded workalike) it's a bootie shaker/pantie remover in a box ;)

Pickup the Violet Ram muff and build it stock, it sounds great on bass and it's a good build, I have a musikding VR muff on my bass board.
