Reccomend me a good comp for bass?

I play P-basses with dimarzio model P / SD quarter pounders into a 150w valve head and 1x15" cab. I play with a pick, and my tone is pretty aggressive for the indie stuff my band plays. Not super heavy, but pretty bright and crunchy.

I'm not after something super squishy, I guess more limiting / evening out?
I've only ever tried an orange squeezer, and I found it pretty noisy

afterlife looks like a good place to start, but any mods needed/suggested for bass?
