New Non Working Pedal Day!

Grabbed it for 100$ from a guy i know, told me it was perfectly working and suddenly it stopped...(that's what they all say....)

The slide switch for power is busted but that is no biggie, i can bypass it to work on it and order one from SB later.

The guy who had it is the type that can bust 10x 3PDT per minute while on stage.. so i suspect that A LOT.

Great grab man, how does it....uhhh nevermind.
Pedal building is like the opposite of sex.  All the fun stuff happens before you get in the box.

Thanks, i'm probably a dumb ass... but i can't find the power requirements for that damn thing... :-[

FIXED!!

The power slide switch was busted, so i bypassed it after getting it little electric tickling in my finger when i touched the enclosure when pedal was powered.

Some power was getting to the circuit, but for some reason most of it was going to ground.

Plugged that thing and BAM!!! All of the awesomeness :) Best 100$ ever!

Mandatory Gut Shots now!  ;D

Quite surprised that this is one of the later editions. From the look of the original pictures, I would have sworn it was an earlier model.

Glad to see you got it running  ;)

The work stereo is a dead give away for reissue.

Plus the mn chip. Early ones were sad.
Still a cool pedal. I have one of the first of the reissues from the late 90s tis a nice pedal. Bit clock noisy but cool.

Like i said, the guy who had previously is a «pedal rapist»..... it explains it all...

But also glad that i got it working without to much headscratching because i suck real bad at trouble shooting.

It's written 2004 on the PCB, i was also more inclined to get a SAD1024 one, but hey! Let the hunt continue :)

I've also managed to repair the stock power switch, quite happy of the turnout of all this.

Always amazes me how some people can be brutal with gear. I guess money spent buying things means nothing? :/

Great score, Rej :) Going to trace it?

Did'nt it already got traced? If not, i could do it, don't know when tho..

It's something i've never done yet, MN3008 are not «that» hard to get and BL3208 probably can do the job in these?

Anyway, i'm up to that, if it have not already been traced. :)

I tried out the big box reissue polychorus and didn't like the fact you could never really get out of slapback mode. The chorus and flange always have too much delay on them because they used one MN3008...too many stages of delay in series! Two MN3001s or MN3010s would have made much more sense since they are dual 512-stage BBDs like the original SAD1024.

I've never tried the SAD version, so i can't say but that makes lots of sense.

Could i use a SAD1024 instead of the MN3008 if i assign the Pinout accordingly to the MN3008 layout?

Cool pedal dude.

Its taken a hammering thats for sure  ;)

Kurt Cobain was partial to a bit of PolyChorus I believe.

No, completely different circuit design.

And they didn't use 2 x MN3001 or MN3010 cause they're in very short supply, they weren't produced in the numbers 3008 were and repairs would be difficult, same reason they didn't just use SAD1024s again.
Plus you're only half right, the flange/filter matrix mode uses an MN3009, plenty short enough at 256 stages and the Vintage MXR Stereo Chorus was happy using a 3008 for chorus.

There is a schematic for this, but as it uses an MN3009 which isn't so easy to find so you'd have to clock buffer a 3007/3207 probably.

A case of better off just buying.

Thanks for your input Scruffie, always appreciated.

So in resume, if i understand correctly (sorry sometime the language barrier makes me understand sentences the opposite way), this one could worth the shot of being reversed engineers so couple DIYers can build this project, since it's based on the MN3008 and MN3101?

Sorry if i'm not getting it.... ::)
