Couple days ago i purchased a JetCity PicoValve from loves_guitars, got it this evenening at 7pm.

Got home and tried it, making sure everything was working fine since it had travelled across north america, it works and sound decent with KT77 and TungSol 12ax7/RCA 12au7 ClearTop, that came with the amp with extra TungSol EL34b and chinese 6l6, probably the stock one...

So i decide to look inside, the grid resistor fix had been made.

That amp is really mod friendly, easier than the Vjr, so i decide to swap some parts for better quality stuff and make other mods suggested by DVM.

This is what i had under hand at the moment to get some work done in.

Had those WIMA left from the past firefly project, perfect lead spacing and changed the 1M resistor on the board for AB, will probably take over the whole pcb if i don't sell it before or anything of that sort.

And decided to make the cathode cap bypass mod, i did'nt had 1/2w 3k3 resistors but i went thru the unsorted stash of CC and found a perfect 3K, it's an amp, it's going to work anyway!

Tork'd!

I then changed the look of it, inverted the top grill, changing knobs... Really pleased of how it looks now  :D

It's now tubed with a BlackGlass Rusky 6V6, the breakup on these is really smooth compared to the JJ6V6 i also tried. Still got plenty of power for what this amp will be used for.

In the pre it got the RCA 12au7 ClearTop in V1 and RCA 12ax7 GreyPlate in V2. I favor those 2 tubes in most of the small wattage stuff, they really stick to the sound i'm after.

I have some KT88, will try that tomorrow...  ;D

That's some professional finish! I like the new knobs a lot. This + the 'Troncaster looks like a perfect bedroom match... :)

Thanks a lot guys, i really like working in amps, at the point where sometime i'd just do that instead of pedals.. :o

I got those knobs from a random chinese ebay seller, the quality is really nice surprisingly.

The 'TronCaster really works well with this amp, i just gave it another run at high volumes with the 6V6 in, it might lack a bit of power finally.. really need to have the Gain and Master cranked to get some real fun tones happening... i guess it's KT88 time!
