When does small get too small? I guess you could pull the guts out of all of these and just install them into your guitar cavity, and eliminate needing stompboxes altogether.

Cant remember the name of the company but I saw recently (on youtube) they were offering effects inside those half size 1590b enclosures.  If there was a control, it would be on the inside as a trimpot.  As far as I'm concerned that's the point where small size hinders the functionality of the pedal and its time to look at the next size up. 

Also, stompboxes are meant to be stomped....you know...its a pretty small target...

It's Henrietta Engineering. And they're designed to be one-trick ponies, variations of effects that were only one knob anyway. How often do you really change the volume on an orange squeezer in a playing situation? The originals had no external controls either. I actually kind of like his schtick. Remember that not everyone's a knob twister.

That's the one Jon! Well, personally I'm not sold.  A tremolo without a speed dial on the front of the pedal isn't very practical if your trying to set it to your strumming or song tempo.  You can change it with the trimmers internally sure. But what a hassle...What if you need 2 tempos for 2 different songs?  open it up on stage?  What if you want to experiment with it?  Keep that precision screw driver handy! 

It's an interesting idea, but call old fashioned...I just think its easier to use a bigger enclosure, put a knob on it and avoid those issues.  Just my opinion.

I like the demos of all of them.  Plus, I'm with Jon...I have my tremolo set at a programmed setting (Line6 MM4) and although mine does 8 programs instead of 4 (can't run a STOCK pedal can I?) I only programmed it to be deeper instead of a speed change.  I get what you're saying, but with the exception of my delay all my pedals never get tweaked between sets (in my case - services).  The downside is, I suck at hitting big targets with my feet, I can't imagine hitting one of those tiny pedals with my clumsy feet.

One advantage of not having knobs on the front too would be that you don't bump them, or have to tape them down so their ready to go when you need them.  It could work for some people.

I don't have an issue with a simple version and I obviously love small pedals.

I am just not sure I like the case design.  I often like odd looking things, but this one is sort of odd in all the wrong ways.

Those were obviously designed to be "pressed by hand" and not stomped. I mean... look at the bar that goes across the face of the effect! How often would someone go to STOMP on the pedal and misfire because thier foot glanced off of the little bar?
