Does anybody know a good and fairly priced place to get custom bent metal enclosures?  I have to build an 8-in-1 pedal and I think I'd like to go outside of the standard Hammond ecosystem.

There are a few guys on diysb. Wow, 8 in 1?

Yeah, I can't say I am totally looking forward to it (it's not for me).

I know what you're saying, it's very stressful building for some one else, not to mention a very large one like that.

There used to be Dirty Dawg but his shop recently burned down. What sort of size are you looking for? Have you looked at Watts chassis offerings. He has various lengths of 6.5" x 2.5" boxes as well as 6" x 2.5" channels, .090" aluminum, don't know whether that's heavy enough for stomping on, maybe some soft touch switches?

PS. Maybe aluminum channel itself, beefy, various heights and depths, any length, cheap but would require endcaps and a bottom cover. examples  http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=64&step=2&top_cat=60

If my photos are missing again... they're hosted by photobucket... and as of 06/2017 being held hostage... to be continued?

Yeah, funnily enough I've had a request for an 8 in 1... So am watching this thread with interest.

8-in-1....isn't that called a "pedal board" ??  ;D

Yeah, it has to be heavy duty because it's basically a pedal board.

The person who requested it (not directly through me, btw) first approached Pete Cornish.  I can't remember the exact figure, but his quote was really high.  I can't remember if it was a couple thousand north or south of $10k, but it was a lot.

Yep. Fella is a guy I make a lot of pedals for and he saw the Space Ritual and thought, hey, I could just have one pedal here...

To be fair, given a nice enough enclosure, I'd do one for me also ;) Different contents though.

Jeez sounds like a nightmare but in a good kinda way for us lunatics. I would be charging some serious bones for that monster also. ~$200 or per each effect, enclosure, labeling, massive wiring =$2000+ ???

Here in Greece, it's pretty common (if you are a handyman) to go to the local metal shop (that's how I refer to it. I don't know how it's called there) with a design of yours (any dimension), and they custom-bend it for you. You can request any kind of metal (steel, alluminum, though alluminum costs quite more).

I've built boxes this way a couple of times. See my Hybrid Amp build (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=13022.0). This is a steel one. However, this one is pretty heavy. If you go with steel, anything over 1mm is heavy.

Doing a random google search I found these guys...

http://www.iprojectbox.com/

and they have some large keyboard style boxes.. not sure how they would stand up to being "stomped on"

there was a company I looked at years ago that sold extruded aluminum channel with a bottom plate and side plates.. have a sample at home.. will try to google or get the name when I get home

I took apart my Strymon Bigsky last week  :o well you know...just took the lid off and bathed in the sunshine that spilled forth.  But I have to say, there bent enclosures are a work of art.  I could never image 2 pieces of bent metal could fit together so well.
