This is my Matsumin's Valvecaster.

- I found this pedal on http://beavisaudio.com/projects/ValveCaster/
- PCBless wiring
- Deleted tone section
- Added a clipping section with a 3 way switch: x2 BS170 and x2 1n34a, no clipping and x2 1n914
- 12AU7 JJ Electronic valve

Pedal building is like the opposite of sex.  All the fun stuff happens before you get in the box.

This is awesome! Where did you get that enclosure?

That finish is AWESOME!!!

Is that powder coat with a screen print?

I bet the lights dim when you fire that up!  That's amazing!

I bought the enclosure in a local store in Barcelona. See and think: this enclosure is perfect for my Valvecaster! Is a Hammond 1590TRPB. You can find it at http://www.musikding.de/Hammond-1590TRPB_1

By the moment the lights don't dim.

I have recently been proven with a 12V power supply and sounds better than 9V.

My decoration are very simple: spraypaint (3 layers, it's depends) without primer (in the future I'll use primer), injekt waterslide decal and finally sealer glossy (2-3 layers).

Yep the more voltage to the plates the better, you'll get a BIG increase in headroom going up to 60v using something like this to power them: http://juansolo.demon.co.uk/stompage/schematics/Power/80v%20Charge%20Pump.png

The plates are low current so that's perfectly up to the job and will give 60v from a 9v feed.

Also regulate the 9v input to give 6v and run the heaters in parallel. These draw all the current and either 6v parallel or 12v series is the optimum voltage for them.

Essentially the Valvecaster is what we started with and there's a lot of improvements to be made there. The gain for example doesn't work properly, so you can fettle it to have a proper gain between the stages.

TH Custom's Valve-e-tizer is about as far as this concept has been taken. It's essentially a Boobtube (which is a Valvecaster modded as above) with the addition of the gains for the stages being adjustable on internal trim pots also. http://diy.thcustom.com/valve-e-tizer/ Well worth a build.

Hi. I'm from Barcelona too..

I've built a classic valvecaster and another with a built in SuperHardOn.

I'm very interested in the clipping mod. Where did you put the clipping stage? After or before the Vol pot?

Thank you!

Awesome all around! Very nice and super looks!

It is a great job, but did you guys realize that the build report is from 2013?
I build pedals to hide my lousy playing.

Hi!

Long time without saying anything. No time to make pedals. But I have some projects to continue...

I put the clipping section between C3 (1uF elec.) and Volume pot.

Please: I need the clipping schematic
Thanks  :)
