...what would you be looking for?

- range 40-240bpm ?
- tap tempo switch ?
- LED indicator
- sound switchable between woodblock and cowbell?
- option to do "count-ins"?
- which beat and division pattern do you like to see?
- other things ?

your input is highly appreciated!

The only known cure in the world for GAS is death.  That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Well, if I'm honest, I'd love a DIY metronome that featured an output so it could act as a clicktrack for a band in a monitoring system. I'd also love to see memory slots, so that speeds could be quickly switched to between songs. I don't know how many memory slots would be needed, nor how you would indicate which you'd gone to.

Maybe those make the project too big.

As it is, I keep getting free basic metronomes from my local shop. They're not hard to come by. It's the cool features like memory slots and output so it functions as a 'click track' that make the good ones expensive.

Should there also be a "mood" switch to emulate dragging on bad days and speeding on good days?  :)

Yes - I have a standard quartz metronome with a 3.5mm out. When I try to use it as a headphone practice aid, it only comes through in one ear. I think it could even be faux stereo, but it needs to come through to both headphones.

This should be part of your all-in-one board. Because I'm sure it'd be simple to do... :)

This sounds like something that can be made with a Arduino. Matter of fact here is a very simple one http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php/topic,7423.0.html

I was playing around with my selfmade PIC prototyping board and while I tried out a few of the on-board-features I suddenly had a metronome in front of me. :D
Just trying to figure out if I should spent more time on it.

You could call it the "Lars Ulrich" mode.
