Since we've been talking about it in Gledison's thread, I was wondering... is there such a thing as short/low profile pin header? I'm talking about this part (the female connector):

But those are around 8 mm high, and I'd like them to be ~4 mm instead. A quick search at mouser did not yield any results. Anybody knows whether such shorter connectors exist, and where to find them?

I haven't seen short headers before. I have seen some right angle headers, but I can't recall where. The two places I've found best for locating things like this are Adafruit and SparkFun.

What about the Molex connectors that Small Bear sells, also available at Mouser, Digikey etc. Can't find a height dimension but they do appear much shorter.

If my photos are missing again... they're hosted by photobucket... and as of 06/2017 being held hostage... to be continued?

Thanks for the links guys. Those Molex connectors look interesting, but I fear the second half of the connector (the receiver) is going to be a bit high.

I finally found those 3M connectors, which are slightly less than 4mm high, with the right pitch (2.54 mm), so I'll give them a try, hoping that standard pin headers will fit in.

Hirose makes some nice low profile ones, but they are 2mm pin spacing, so they would be more useful for new PCB layouts than for use on  boards with 0.100" spacing.

The boards I'm working with are just a small batch of prototypes — I can always redesign them if needed, so thanks for the tip, I found them at mouser  :)
