Wöbahl ... the Cardinal Tremolo

My Trembahl needed a brother. Heres the Wöbahl!

Finally build my Cardinal (Midwayfair/1776). Great box. i DO regret though, that i did put the WAVE pot as a trimmer... i strongly recommend anyone who build this to have that knob reachable from the outside as half the fun with the box is to play with the wave setting...

Tight board. Almost too tight for Panasonic 1uF-caps and "those damm trimmers http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=10832.0 "  ... You can see some hidden resistors under them.

I put attention to gain resistor choice for the jFETs. I ended up with 8k2 for R7 and 18k(!) for R9. Definately worth the effort. I recommend future builders to socket R7 and R9 (as said in the build dox) and take it from there.

So... great design Jon! Very musical tremolo.

I definitely agree if the mode switch is included. But, if someone's building JUST the harmonic side, then the wave pot can lose its luster a little. Josh and I discussed it and we agreed it was easier to wire an external pot from the pads for a trimmer than to wire a trimmer into the pads for a pot!

Good thinking. It also gives some alternatives for pot placement on the enclosure (you can center the WAVE pot if you keep VOL as trimmer).

Ah yea... i orderred some FITTING trimmers from tayda too... but it was after i had populated the pcb. Worth telling again; if i should redo this box, i'd set WAVE as a pot, not a trimmer (see ^^ Jons comment too)

I forgot to tell in the first post: This is one of bcoles painted boxes. Great quality. It IS a bit scary to drill painted boxes though (when i paint myself, i always drill before painting), but ... i guess im getting used to it:)

Maybe i shouldve asked some englishspeakin dude before i named things ... But if you close your eyes and say "Wobahl" out loud, and listen to it... how does it sound? Does the word "wobble" come out? If not, i have failed bigtime 

...

Hmmm, that's going to be awkward to locate as you can't drill through Envirotex and the casing in one go, it all goes horribly wrong if you do... I'll see what it's like and if all else fails, if I can fit it on the side.

Oh, it DOES sound like Wobble (in a somewhat French accent), I was just wondering if it did mean anything in Swedish (Googling Wobulator turns up a lot of radio stuff, btw!)
