Decided to build a Lovetone Cheese Source. I really do not like working on vero, though! Or the thought of wiring up 3p4t rotaries. So I laid out a board :) I used Plesur's Feta Complis schematic (thanks!) and the Doug Hammond Tone Source schematic.

Some slight errors in the Source side -- I had a resistor and cap going to the wrong input, but when I found out the board was bolted in, and I was not about to undo eight nuts again. Plus I drilled it wrong, making my work on board mounted pots completely meaningless. Grrr.

But it sounds pretty good now! Not a lot of gain on the Source side, but I've heard it works best pushing an already overdriving amp. The cheese side is fun, though :)

So this is one of your OSH-park PCBs? Did i get that right?

You're doin ambitious stuff, Alan. Impressive!

Cheers

heh. I thought I saw that you did one of these a long time ago? Or did you just have an original?

Wow dude, this is so much tidier than the real thing! Super impressive. Do you find any problems with having the power input at the bottom of the pedal?

+1. I would love one of these :)

I need to fix the problem with the Source side in Eagle and upload the new version to OSH before I share it :)

Soldersqueeze, not really. I find it easier than trying to work out if I can jam it in somewhere else  ;D

that was a clone on perf and vero in a massive box. one of my earlier builds ;)

LaceSensor

can you tell me from top to bottom on both sides which mode is which?

Im assuming for brown side
Twank
1
2
3

And the cheese side
off
scoop
hump
gate

please confirm! thanks

spaceboss

That is a great source of cheese.  8)

The bottom setting on the Cheese side is the Cheese (gating is pretty obvious). So off-scoop-hump-Lancre Blue Vein, top to bottom.

I *think* the Brown Side goes Twank-3-2-1 from top to bottom. My ears are not good for subtleties (the Cheese is not subtle.)

With the Rotaries pointing towards the centre of the enclosure

its

Brown                      Cheese
3                                off
2                                scoop
1                                hump
Twank                         gate

Hi

Poles 2 and 3 coming off Rotary A on the Brown side should have the caps swapped.
Pole 1  = 33nf from A
Pole 2 = should be 33nf to parallel = 66nf, more bass than 1
Pole 3 = should be 220nf to parallel again = 286nf, more bass than 2
Pole 4 = twank setting... fine

at present in your schematic its different to the Doug Hammond original - Pole 3 has the 33nf, and 2 the 220nf.
This means the bass doesnt increase stepwise with turning the rotary. Easy fix, just swap c27 and c26.

Alan, the link to the build document on OSH is disabled.

Any chance you could enable the link, or post the document here??

Think it's fixed.

Dropbox had some weird error, I dunno. Had to create a new link.
