Volume pedal pot

I guy I know has a sweet old De Armond 1602 volume pedal with a crackly pot that I may end up buying and fixing it up for myself. What is the best taper/resistance for a volume pedal? I've never owned a volume pedal before and I'm not really familiar with them (not that there is really much to them...)

usually 25k for active pickups, and 250k for passive pickups.

i still recommend a good buffer before it though. if you use a buffer, the low impedance output is more suitable to drive a passive pot than the high impedance guitar output. it also makes it less sensitive to the value of the pot used, meaning you could use a 100k wah pot with the nice taper. the buffer could be as simple as using a boss (c) pedal since they're all buffer bypass anyway.

 Was thinking about throwing a Klon buffer into the enclosure anyway seeing as it's going to be at the beginning of my chain. I think there is an etchable version floating around the forum. Thanks for the advice!

Hm. I have an old Korg Dual Volume pedal, it has a 25K pot. Now It doesn't say anywhere that it is 25K but my measuring says it. It is scratchy and it doesn't go to null volume which I hate. I'm thinking either find a 25K wah pot and put it in there or just use that enclosure for something else, which is not what I would prefer of the two.
