Hey there,  I'm sure it's not difficult (when you know how)  Need to take your standard 9 volt dc supply and create 5 volt for some IC's on a board.  How does one create the 5 volt supply?
I have used the road rage boards for 12, 18 v or negative supply but I simply need to drop the voltage.
Thanks very much.

Depends on the mA needed but for under 100mA current a 78L05 will work fine.

9 volt to the in, ground pin to gnd, and output is 5V  just add some filtering

Check out the power section in the schematic of the rub a dub for an example

Thanks very much.  So simple of course.  Any "best" cap for filter typically used?
thanks

any old electro should work. i wouldn't use anything smaller than 10uF. bigger is better, though.
