Yes, replace the 47R with a 1kB for the Ruetz mod.

As far as that 51pF cap, it is to control the slew rate of the op-amp. The 308 lets you control this externally with a cap, and it is a feature which can alter the dynamics at high gian (which is what the Rat excels at). The slightly higher value was probably chosen to limit the slew rate a little more than a stock Rat, thereby limiting the response to fast changes in high frequency response (i.e. makes it a little smoother sounding).
