So I just did my first SMD repair...fixed the guitar professor's MXR Carbon Copy by replacing this JFET. Pretty happy 'bout it  ;D

I had to replace a potentiometer on one.  It was a chore!

great job!!! thats a really packed board how did you trace down the transistor?

Exactly my thoughts. I've attempted to fix a few SMD pedals and they always make my head hurt when I open them.

I looked up the problem on FSB and it seems to be pretty common with Carbon Copies: LED doesn't turn on and there's no sound when engaged. Somebody posted a pic on flickr pointing out 4 J177 Jfets and I emailed Dunlop just to make sure. They said usually just Q10 is the problem, so BAM replaced it using tweezers and it works
